Yamasakiwasdifferentfromotherarchitects.Hisbuildingsgivepeopleafeelingofpeaceandhappiness.Manyofhisdesignshavepoolsofwater,flowers,andwindowsontherooftoletinlight.Healwaysdesignedbuildingstopleasepeople.Hewantedtogivethemaplaceawayfromthebusywaysofmodemlife.
Yamasakiworkedforseveralcompanies.Buthissuccessbeganwhenhestartedhisowncompany.In1956,hewontheArchitect'sFirstHonorAwardforhisdesignofanairportinSt.Louis,Missouri,Hewontwomoreawardsoverthenextfiveyears.In1962,hedesignedtheWorldTradeCenterinNewYork.Itisveryfamous.
In1993,abombexploded(炸弹爆炸)intheWorldTradeCenter.Butthebuildingsdidnotfalldownbecausetheyhadagooddesign.
Yamasakihadstrongopinionsabouthisbuildings.Theyhadtobebuilthisway.Herefusedtochangethedesignofhisbuildings,evenifhelostajob.
MinoruYamasakidiedin1986.Hedesignedmorethan300buildings.Peoplewillenjoythedesignandbeautyofhisbuildingsforaverylongtime.
